2008 -Concept: East and West. Oregon State University General Research award to travel to China and Tibet, interview Eastern and Western artists, and produce a video and exhibition. The Chinese government, World Trade and Exchanges, and the Dalai Lama Foundation assisted in arranging interviews. Video and exhibition traveled to three U.S. venues in 2009. -Undergraduate Research, Scholarship, and Creativity in Social Justice Grant from Oregon State University to support The Last Supper. $2000 award to student researchers.
2007-2009 Sabbatical proposal in support of creative research. Release time from teaching for three consecutive fall terms.
2005 -Center for the Humanities Fellowship for 2005-6. Release from teaching and committees fall term at Oregon State University to write an essay on the ritual of final meals for death row inmates.
2003 The Last Supper: New Research in Video, Oregon State University College of Liberal Arts Research Grant. Release time spring term 2004, to collaborate with Colin Murphey producing a video on death row inmates’ final meal requests.
2003 Cancelled Delegation Leader for May 2003 Cultural Exchange. The Chinese government invited me to be their guest as a leader of a group of artist from the US and the UK, while lecturing and exhibiting artwork in China. Cancelled due to SARS.
